Dr Hacker has extensive experience of Neuropsychology within the NHS across the entire care pathway of the brain injured client. He currently holds substantive NHS roles in the area of acute trauma and neurosurgery, specialising in traumatic brain injury. Dr Hacker currently works with both civilian and military patients at University Hospital Birmingham/Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He also has extensive experience and expertise in neuropsychological assessment for neurology and neurosurgery and works with clients with a range of neurological and degenerative conditions (e.g. Multiple sclerosis, encephalitis, Parkinson's Disease, dementia, stroke and epilepsy). Dr Hacker has also worked within community brain injury and rehabilitation including the management of clients with problematic behaviours and poor engagement with services post-injury. He is currently the Consultant Neuropsychologist for inpatient and community Neurorehabilitation at West Park Hospital, Wolverhampton.
Dr Hacker has prepared expert reports for mental health review tribunals including those for restricted patients and prepared reports for the courts in both civil and criminal matters. These include assessments of acquired brain injury in civil compensation, assessment of capacity, assessment of fitness to plead and competency to stand trial, risk assessment, the impact of acquired brain injury on culpability in criminal proceedings and capacity to parent.
