Elinor Wainwright, Bsc, HPC Registered Occupational Therapist
Elinor graduated in 2001 from University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff with a B.S.c (Hons) in Occupational Therapy. Initially she worked in rotational posts covering elderly, elderly mentally ill, Acute Medical/Surgical Wards, Stroke and Neuropsychiatry, developing her skills and working in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Her work in neuropsychiatry involved neurological assessments and interventions, management of behavioural difficulties, violence and aggression training. Social and communication skills, confidence development, behaviour management, fatigue and anxiety management programmes, use of C.B.T. approaches.
Following Senior 2 rotations in the Specialist Stroke Unit, Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Elinor specialised in neuro-rehabilitation through a permanent position in the Renablement Team, Rhondda Cynon Taff County Council from 2003, rising to a Senior 1 in 2005, a position she currently holds.
She works independently in the community with extensive experience of a wide range of conditions, including medical, surgical, acute and chronic neurological conditions, CVA and brain injury clients. Provision of in depth assessments, and planning of individualised, graded, goal orientated and client centred programmes of rehabilitation. Provision of complex written reports. Close liaison with a wide range of Health and social care professionals, to gain the best rehabilitation outcomes for clients. Advise on environmental adaptations and aids to maximise client independence in all areas of daily living.
Elinor is an active member of 'British Association of Occupational Therapists' and 'College of Occupational Therapists' and a Member of OT special interest groups in 'Neurology' and 'Independent Practice'.
