Other clients may also benefit from this approach.  These conditions include; stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, or cerebral palsy.
Clients that have suffered a catastrophic injury may benefit from orthisis either due to the impact of a neurological injury or directly from the physical injury.  In line with our multi-disciplinary approach, this can be incorporated into a wider rehabilitation plan, encompassing other team members or delivered on its own. Clearly, the approach may vary as the rehabilitation progresses or may be used in a stable condition.
Who might benefit from Orthotics?
Orthotists and Prosthetists are a related and are sometimes confused with each other.  Orthotists provide a range of splints, braces and special footwear to aid movement, correct deformity and relieve discomfort, whereas Prosthetists provide an artificial replacement for patients who have lost or were born without a limb.
In line with this close relationship, both are governed by the same professional body, the
British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotists
What is the difference between an Orthotist and a Prosthetist?
