Simon is a qualified Occupational Therapist in independent practice with a sound knowledge of physical and psychosocial conditions. He has managed many complex return-to-work programmes and actively works with both the patient and the employer to achieve fair and realistic outcomes.
Simon is a member of Occupational Therapist in Independent Practice and the Vocational Rehabilitation Association. He maintains high standards of knowledge and attends training regularly to maintain his profession development.
Simon was initially employed by the Older Persons Team in Social Services and carried an extensive caseload, managing a variety of medical and neurological conditions. Key roles in this position were palliative care and all major and minor adaptations to facilitate client's independence
Following employment in Social Services he was employed as a Senior Occupational Therapist in Southampton Primary Care Trust in an intermediate care team and was responsible for the delivery, staff and development of the Occupational Therapy service and worked closely with all agencies in this joint project.
Simon spent two year in New Zealand working on a variety of vocational rehabilitation and injury management contracts for ACC as well as working with people with chronic pain.
Since returning from New Zealand 5 years ago Simon has been an independent Occupational Therapist and his work has primarily remained focused on vocational rehabilitation, injury and case management. Simon also remains involved in manual handling risk assessments and training for people with complex disabilities.
More recently Simon has developed his skill based further attending the Matherson System Functional capacity evaluators training. Simon is now qualified and able to complete a variety of tailored capacity evaluations.
