Tracey Dailly, BSc Speech and Language Pathology
Tracey graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1996 from the University of Strathclyde. She has worked with a wide variety of client groups of all ages, including ten years specialising in children with complex additional needs. She is currently employed in the NHS as an advanced Clinical Specialist for adults with learning disabilities, working as part of a multi disciplinary team.
As well as her clinical work Tracey currently works with Strathclyde University as a clinical tutor on the undergraduate BSc in speech and language pathology course. Tracey's area of expertise is in working with clients with complex communication support needs and with those who present with behaviours which are challenging to services. She is also experienced in the treatment of clients with eating, drinking and swallowing disorders.
Tracey provides client centred therapy providing compensatory strategies to maximize effective communication and put in place capable communication environments. She works with clients whose communication needs lead to challenging behaviours and works with families and carers to educate and support them to recognise the significant role communication has on clients who present with behaviours which are challenging. Communicative strategies are introduced to provide effective antecedent events in order to reduce the intensity and frequency of behaviours.
